Arusha National Park fees at a glance
The park charges a conservation fee for each person, and activities add separate fees on top. A game drive needs the entry fee and the vehicle fee. A guided walk, a canoe trip, a night in a hut or a Mount Meru climb each have their own price.
International adults pay $50 (2023/24 tariff) or $70, depending on the rate TANAPA applies; check the current amount before you book. At the higher rate children pay $20 and East African residents TZS 20,000. The 2023/24 tariff, valid from 1 July 2023 to 30 June 2024, set $50 in the main season and $45 in the low season for international adults. Ask whether 18 % VAT is included. For planning, use the higher figure and ask for the exact amount for your date.

In that tariff the main season ran from 16 May to 14 March and the low season from 15 March to 15 May. Walks of 1 to 4 hours counted as short and longer ones as long. Huts and special camps need a reservation in advance. For most visitors on a day trip, the entry fee, the vehicle fee and a short walk or canoe trip are the only items that matter, and you should confirm all three before you pay.
Vehicle fees, validity and payment
What a car costs, how long a ticket lasts and how to pay.
Vehicle fee
In the 2023/24 tariff a vehicle up to 2,000 kg paid TZS 20,000 if it was Tanzanian-registered or privately owned in East Africa, and $40 if it was commercial or foreign. A vehicle of 2,001 to 3,000 kg paid TZS 35,000 or $150. Safari operators usually fold this fee into the package price.
How long the ticket lasts
A ticket is valid for 24 hours. A day permit covers 12 daylight hours and an overnight permit 24 hours, so ask which one you are buying.
Paying at the gate
The park accepts card payment (Visa and Mastercard) at the gate, mobile money, bank transfer for tour operators, online reservation and the government payment system GePG. Residents show proof of residence or work. East African citizens show an ID or passport.
Is it already in your tour price?
On a guided safari the conservation fee is often included, but not always. Check the line in your booking that names park fees and what happens if the tariff changes.

If you want a half-day game drive, plan for the entry fee per person and the vehicle fee. If you add a walk with a ranger, the walk fee comes on top. A canoe trip on Small Momella Lake is paid separately and must be arranged in advance, so see the Momella Lakes page for how that works.
A Mount Meru climb has the most parts: conservation fees for each day, nights in the huts, a ranger and a guide, and the rescue fee. There is no ready-made total, so add the items from the table and ask your operator what the quote covers. Porters, transport and meals are separate items.
If you are comparing prices, the safest step is to ask each provider for the exact fee for your dates in writing. Planning a longer trip? The same question is worth asking for the bigger parks, for example in the guide to Serengeti park fees.
